Awards for Graduate Students

Graduate Students in the Irving K. Barber School of Arts & Sciences are eligible to apply for external funding and awards, as well as UBC- and faculty-specific awards.

Graduate Student Travel Grant

This grant supports travel to conferences for full-time graduate students in master’s or doctoral programs. In order to be eligible, students must present scholarly work related to their graduate thesis research at a national or international scholarly meeting or conference. The value of the grant is $500 for Master’s students and up to $1,000 for PhD students. Please also refer to UBC’s Travel Expenditures guidelines.

Applications will be considered on an ongoing basis, but must be received no less than one month prior to travel.

University Graduate Fellowship (UGF)

The University Graduate Fellowship (UGF) is a merit-based scholarship that is awarded to graduate students engaged in full-time study or research in a thesis-based program. Current students, enrolled in a UBC Okanagan graduate degree program, must apply annually for University Graduate Fellowship funding.
